Our adoption process starts with an application, which can be filled out online, or at our Saturday Adoption events.  We consider applications in the order in which they are received. Click here to fill out our canine (dog) application.  One of our volunteers will review your application and contact you via email to ask any questions we might have about your application. If applicable, we will obtain vet and landlord references.  If your application is approved, the next step is to set up a meeting for you to get to know the pet you are interested in.  We normally do this at our Saturday Adopt-a-Pet events, but we can also set up appointments at other times mutually convenient for you, the pet's foster parent, and an adoption coordinator.  We also reserve the right to perform a home visit for any adoption.  During a home visit a Cabarrus Pets Society representative will come to your house to see where your new pet will live.  

Please note that Cabarrus Pets Society's policy does not allow families with children under 6 years of age to adopt puppies under the age of 6 months.  The suitability of adult dogs is considered on a case by case basis.  Obedience training is encouraged for every dog or puppy adoption and may be required for select adoptions.  This policy is in place for the safety of both the animals and your children. 

Because we follow up on every adoption, we prefer adopters within a 75 mile radius of Concord, NC and they will be given priority over out of area applications.  We will consider out of area applications on a case by case basis. 

We reserve the right to refuse any applicant, if in our judgement, the home environment is not compatible with the needs of the animal or if the animal is not suitable for the applicant.
